Cultural Iconography: Tourism, Culture and Leisure:
A 20 Key, villa boutique hotel development at Kumarakom Lake, Kerala, for Surya Samudra Resorts. The design explored the relationships of the traditional Kerala house, its iconic roof scape design, and the indegenous landscape of Kerala: The village, The water, lake, and verdant vegetation:
The design focussed on a grouping of traditional villas around a created central water body, using the sheet of water to devide, unify, and control. The final built work sadly omitted the artificial lake. The result is a random collection of structures without the cohesiveness of the original design.
Total area 500sqm. Project Cost 10 crores.
Completed 2016.
